Are your ceramics really made in Italy?
Yes. Every piece offered by Negozio Italiano is authentically made in Italy by skilled artisans. Our collections reflect generations of traditional craftsmanship and hand-painting techniques that make Italian ceramics world-renowned.
Are your products safe for serving food?
Absolutely. All of our dinnerware and tabletop items are 100% food safe and completely lead free. We work exclusively with manufacturers who use certified, non-toxic glazes and pigments. Our ceramics meet strict safety standards for lead and cadmium in accordance with U.S. import regulations.
Can I use your ceramics in the microwave?
Our pieces are designed as serving and dining ware. They are safe for light microwave reheating. However, they are not intended for high-heat cooking or baking. Please handle with care after microwaving, as ceramics can retain heat.
Are they oven safe?
No. Our ceramics are not designed for conventional oven use or stovetop cooking. Sudden or extreme temperature changes may cause damage.
Are your products dishwasher safe?
Yes, our dinnerware and tabletop ceramics are dishwasher safe. For best results and long-term care, we recommend spacing items apart so they do not touch during wash cycles.
What is “crazing” and is it normal?
Crazing refers to fine hairline lines that may appear in the glaze over time. This is a natural characteristic of handcrafted earthenware and occurs due to temperature and humidity changes. It does not affect the safety or function of the piece and is often appreciated as part of its artisanal charm.
Why do pieces vary slightly in color or size?
Because each item is individually hand-crafted and hand-painted, no two pieces are exactly identical. Subtle differences in brushwork, glaze tone, and dimensions are a hallmark of authentic artisan production — not defects.
What if my item arrives damaged?
We carefully package every order to ensure safe delivery. If your item arrives damaged, please contact us promptly and we will assist you with a resolution.
How should I care for my Italian ceramics long term?
To preserve the beauty of your hand-painted ceramics, avoid sudden temperature changes and handle with care. While dishwasher safe, gentle washing and proper spacing will help maintain the glaze and artwork for years to come.
Are these pieces handmade or mass-produced?
Our ceramics are individually crafted and hand-painted by artisans in Italy. Unlike factory-printed tableware, each piece carries subtle variations that reflect true handcrafted artistry.
Will the colors fade over time?
No. The vibrant colors are kiln-fired into the glaze at high temperatures, making them long-lasting and resistant to normal wear. With proper care, the design will remain beautiful for many years.
Are your ceramics suitable for everyday use or special occasions?
Both. Our collections are durable enough for daily dining yet elegant enough for entertaining guests and special gatherings. They bring authentic Italian charm to any table setting.
